Hi! I struggle with this so much so I really appreciate this video. Every. Fucking. Time I put my heart out on the line, I am never liked back. I'm attracted to guys, and guys never, EVER, think of me the same way when I think of them in that way. It is so frustrating and painful to constantly go through. I wish more TV shows more accurately showed unrequited love. I totally think that people do fall in love, but to show real struggles is so important. So thanks for this. so about two months ago my ex broke up with me, mind you this was my first "real" relationship, i didn't know how to love or i didn't know someone could love me in that way, we dated for two months and then broke up with me claiming there was too much problems going on and he wasn't healthy to be around which i understood because he was going through a lot. we decided to remain friends but it didn't really felt like it. after two weeks i swiped up in his story because he seemed like he was going through a hard time and i thought i could console him and maybe even help. and i did, i helped him a lot but after he told me that he was still in love with his ex and that she made him the happiest man alive and he loves her so so much. he met me after a month of breaking up with her(after 10 months with her) so i understood but i was so broken. because he lied about saying he loved me, even though he said it first and i would write about not being the one no matter how hard i tried. he claimed that he loved me too but i just didn't understand it. after that he swiped up in my story telling me he is still here for me if anything and send me a stranger things meme. after that i saw him while walking my dog and he freaked out in front of his friend so i just walked my dog the other way. i couldn't let go of him so i unadded him like 4 days ago. I'm doing better now. if anyone is going through a breakup just know that its going to be okay.

It hurts most when you are completely in love with someone who loves you and one day they just stop loving you. A part of you always holds onto the hope they made a mistake, they needed space and they’ll come back. They get with someone else and it ruins you. They end and you hope he comes back. He was everything I ever wanted and now he’s gone. I see him almost every day but he won’t speak to me. And it kills me.

I agree, this video was everything. Watching the video and hearing the voices of the characters was so cathartic for me. You bring up an interesting point about exploring stories from this angle. For me, I wish there were more forms of music that focuses on unrequited love. Surely there are singers out there who have mostly ever experienced unrequited love, I wish they could sing for us - the unloved ones. I know if I was a singer, all of my songs would be about unrequited love, falling in love with someone you can't have, letting go of an unrequited love and about trying to persevere through unrequited love and finding the joy in being single.
Maybe the reason why we can't move on from what's making us sad is because it was the only thing that made us happy...

I fell deeply in love with a college friend. I told him how I feel. He rejected me and said I'm just a sister to him. Fast forward to the present, he is now married with a kid. It still hurts all these years. I haven't gotten over it. I'm still single. I don't think I can ever love someone as I did with my first love.

One sided love
There’s this other type of love that doesn’t come dressed in everything you’ve ever wanted. It isn’t every dream coming true. It isn’t waking up one day next to someone and realizing the only thing that matters is them.
It’s opposite really. Yes, it’s everything you’ve ever wanted standing right in front of you but they aren’t yours to have. It’s every dream you thought of, imagining a life together but the closest you’ll ever get to it is when they meet you in your dreams. It’s waking up alone and looking over at a bed you wish they were in. It’s your heart breaking but you can’t even say anything because how do you explain or justify heartbreak when it’s someone you aren’t even with?
But the pain is real. The love is deep. And it cuts you to a point where you’re on your knees crying alone because the only thing that hurts more than heartbreak is finding the right person when you or they aren’t ready for it.
It’s hard to come to terms with love being both beautiful and heartbreaking. But that’s the reality of loving someone you can’t be with.
You said this very eloquently. I'm an older lady compared to the younger crowd here but being unloved can happen at any age. I'm proof of that. I have loved a gentleman from afar for some time now yet we have never met. What keeps me from introducing myself to him is that I love him so much that I have to leave him alone. I know, crazy talk, right? Well let me explain. He has a perfect life. Beautiful wife, sweet kids, lovely home, awesome career and many people around him that love him. He is out of my league on so many levels and I could never be good enough for him. He is intelligent-I'm average. He's gorgeous-I'm not. We would be considered an odd couple if we were ever to date. That will never happen but on a spiritual level I feel very attached to him. What I lack in beauty and intelligence I make up for in spiritual traits. What I'm trying to says is, sometimes no matter how connected we think we feel towards someone-we have to leave them be. He is so happy with his life that disturbing his perfect existence would be harmful to him and everyone around him. I adore him too much to interfere with that. He is precious to me and i will love him until my last day on earth but sometimes truly loving someone means leaving them alone to live their life and be happy. That's what I wish for him-true love and happiness. If he's happy-that makes me happy. Besides, when he's happy his smile is stunning! Blessings to all of you and good luck in love!💖😉

My problem is getting too emotionally attached and letting it consume me internally. I shut down and only think of them and it can be very difficult to get over because of too much time invested. I’ve been practicing self love and since then I’ve felt a bit better about my situation. I honestly don’t think our paths will ever cross in this lifetime so I may have to move on from it and do other things to perk myself up. I’ve wasted too little sleep, too many tears and too much time on someone who doesn’t even care in that way about me. His heart belongs to someone else and it’ll never be me. But those looks he gave me...those looks of raw hunger and desire, is just all it is: looks. Nothing will ever come of it. I do slightly hope to at least see him once again when I go on vacation in two weeks time. I can only hope-but never expect.

To be able to love, it's painful most of the time. But you can't choose who you are attracted to or who you love. The understanding when someone doesn't and will probably never feel the same way you do and you can't stop thinking about them, it hurts. The worst part is when you can't make them fall in love with no matter what you do/did. That is the the different definition of falling in love. Where in that case, the falling leads to collapsing and collapsing leads to breaking.
Some of us go through life loving so hard but being loved very little. It's not just the love you feel with people you're romantically in love with, it's your "friends" and your family. Constantly putting people first but not ever having anyone care for us the same way, trust me when I say we've tried to put ourselves first but it never works. So we're hurting while putting people first, loving them with our all but being in constant pain when there is no version of us for ourselves.
This might be another Long random message that someone might read but believe me ,exactly an year back I saw this video where a comment of a one-sided love striked my eye and had a screenshot of it during an era of my madness towards a person who just always considered me as an option and gave me the best reality check without a bare minimum respect. So plz never just have your own expectations and hopes coz it takes hell lot of pain that you can't explain to any other creature in this world and even if such storm breezes in your life build the strength to tackle your situation all by yourself !! Reading the comments, I have come to know that there many people blighting inside due to unrequited love like me, and are very sad. What's sadder is I don't want to see so many people not get their love returned. I lose a little faith in love, universe and myself too. This unrequited love can be dealt with by letting out your feelings almost immediately after you find out you like the person so the love wouldn't have enough time to grow into something strong, which could easily break you

i didn’t know what unrequited love was until i searched it up a few minutes ago. i just cried 5 minutes straight bc i just realized, i fall into that category. i felt that, maybe he just doesn’t know what he wants. every time i see him, i can’t breathe. the butterflies in my stomach are way too much. i don’t even know him enough to say “i love you”. i saw him yesterday after 2 full months of not speaking. the whole summer, i thought about him. i wanted him. i still want him. now that i learned about unrequited love...i know he doesn’t feel the same way. actually kinda glad that i know that now lmfao. its been a year i’ll get over it one of these days
It's almost been 3 years when I first lay my eyes on you and it may sounds cliche but when I first saw you, I knew that you were the only one who I would always, truly loved. I still held onto this love after all these years even though you are with someone else. But that's alright though, your happiness is my happiness and I wish you the best in life and I hope you will never feel this pain that i felt. I just hope that one day I would be courageous enough to tell you how I really feel before this unrequited love kills me inside.

I haven't yet fallen in love yet but this video just made me cry... because if being ignored can make me sad then I can't imagine how much a person suffers when she or he is not Loved.

I met him last June, to be precise June 1st. Then randomly, I’ve fallen for him, there’s no explanation, but I remember at 3 am in the second week of July, I just randomly fell for him.
I regret it. But I don’t think I can truthfully say that, because at one point I was the happiest girl in the world.
You know what’s so messed up? I fell for it. I fell in the trap and now I’m this puppy that keeps on wagging it’s tail each time he comes back into my life, when he hurt me. He lead me on, told me he loved me, I told him my insecurities, he told me his, but I have to be real here, I don’t know him. He doesn’t know me.
Then boom. He just stopped. But like always I’m the puppy wagging it’s tail, so I kept on going back even when he told me off, I still loved him. Then he came back, told me the same old fricking lies. THE SAME LIES, the same old game, but I fell. Then again, he shoved me, so, June 1st was the anniversary of our meeting and it meant so much to me, but really it was my last hope.
Because if he remembered then he cares, he still loves me. But no, he didn’t remember, he stomped on my heart and now nothing. You know, I seem to always remember, the only one remembering the dates, the birthdays, the everything about someone, the colors, the animals, the food, THE NAMES, everything, and yet me? I get a slap to my face.
He didn’t even remember my birthday. I waited all day for him, just hoping, but nothing.
I won’t lie, I still love him, I really still do, but I’m tired too. I get tired of trying, I get just tired, and I want to let go.

I once fell in love with someone that never wanted me. I spent over a year and a half chasing her. I did literally everything and set up, most likely, the best possible scenario for it to happen and it never did. I decided to get over it and found a girl 6 months later and actually fell in love. People, unrequited love isn't love, it is an obsession. It is an unhealthy idolization of another person without enough information to draw the deep and definite conclusions you end up making about that person. In love you do idolize them, but not in the same blind way you do in unrequited love. Worst of all it never brings you the beautiful happiness that comes with love, only the heartbreak and anxiety. I understand, that for many, this kind is the closest thing to falling in love you ever have felt, but it will stop you from the actual experience because it did for me and i see that year and change as a waste of my time. I regret feeling all of those things for her, it wasn't worth it and letting it go was infinitely better. Now id never date that girl. Trust me, just let it go, it only has and ever will make you miserable.

@@tvds8350 It can be, but do what you need to to confirm in your own mind that it will never happen. I gave my all, and literally could not provide any better reasons why we should be together and she still said no. When you get to the point where there are genuinely no more things you can try, you are forced to accept it. I wouldn't recommend doing it, its a long, dark, and sort of awkwardly sad road, but i needed it so you might too.

I love how you said “I don't need him to love him.” And I think that is so important because it shows that you really do love the person and not just want something from them whether it's love or attention. I think it's totally fine to love someone who doesn't love you back if they deserve it like if they are a good person and kind to you and they don't invalidate your feelings or make you feel small or stupid for loving them when they don't love you back.

I like this guy a lot, have been for awhile now. He's a really good guy, my college friend. Unfortunately, it's a one sided kind of love. He's a really nice guy, he's smart, handsome, and I can tell a lot of people like him. He has a lot of qualities that I really like in a person, he writes beautifully, he has a good taste in movies, he has an avid interest on space and the universe, basically he's my type. While I'm just... Me. We're kinda different on a lot of things, and it's just so devastating how that can be. He also most probably doesn't see me as anything but as an acquaintance from college. It really shouldn't hurt much, but it still does.

Sometimes being rejected by our unrequited loves is the best thing that can happen to you. It teaches you how to let go and move on to the people who love us back. The best love we can receive is the love we give ourselves. At least you loved.
I like to think that loving is good for us regardless of whether it's reciprocated. I love that there are people in the world who inspire that wonderful feeling in me but I don't need to have the sentiment returned, no matter how perfect that might be. It just feels good to love.
I don't know... maybe it's a blessing that it was unrequited. Maybe being single is the best. But I love it this way.
